We got our first computer in the year 2000, a Dell tower, a real beast. That year Google announced over 1 billion web pages were searchable on its engine. That made it the pre-eminent search tool, eclipsing Alta-Vista, Dogpile, Ask Jeeves... Those were the days of dial-up and that dinosaur AOL (oddly enough with Canada added to the end of the corporate branding). It actually still exists I was surprised to find, in the form of a modest news feed and email portal. The images above were not watermarked or attributed at all, and their size denotes the limited ability of the net at that time. Nonetheless, it's a small example of the massive collection of imagery I have from that Cambrian period. I'll post more as I sift.
