First day of spring 2023

A beach image, suitably by the artist Keith Vaughn, painter, collagist, and photographer.  Entitled A Male Figure Drying Himself (1939).  So modern, it looks as though it could have been taken last week.  Vaughn was indeed an interesting fellow.  For someone so obsessed with the minutiae of his own orchestrated end, I am happy to make it the leading image here for rebirth.

Although the snow on the ground barely makes me believe that the season has changed, today was sunny and there was a dent in the cold, the air almost acknowledging a relinquishment of its chill armour.

If you ever get a chance, read Gerard Hastings' Drawing to a Close: The Final Journals of Keith Vaughn.  Death in life.  Life in death.  Apt for spring.

Wonderful stuff, as per usual. The quality of your collections are stellar. And this one... the more cubist he went with his art work the more I liked it. And his homoerotic photos are to be treasured. Thanks for sharing. You remain my favorite curator. Kizzes.

The photos are in such a state of degradation I posted them as is, except for the first one which I cleaned up. Yes, love his POV in paint, and what an idiosyncratic character he is (was)!
