Congressional Annexation Bill of 1866

If he really wants us I think we'd be more trouble than we're worth đŸ˜‚  The French editorial cartoon is from 1865, showing the confederation of two brothers (so gay!), Upper and Lower Canada - with the young mistresses of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia tagging along.  The little cross-dresser is Prince Edward island.  Here he looks like an adoptee, but it was his province in which the British North America Act was signed at Charlottetown in 1867.  Our balding little cross-dresser didn't join into confederation until 1873.  The President has put forward a very old idea, around long before modern day Canada existed.  The invasion of Upper Canada by American troops took place less than fifty years after the Declaration of Independence.
