The Golden Cockerel

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov died in 1908 and his last opera was stage after his death.  At one point in his dotage, he mentioned that he felt he might be "well-dried up" as a composer, and did not want to find himself in the situation of a singer who had "lost his voice."  Lately, I've been feeling this way about my memoirs.  I've deleted a few of them, feeling they are either repetitive - or worse - whiny.

Dipping into the pond of memory I've tried to pull the most sparkling of my thoughts from the bottom.  One only lives so much, haha!  Paul Bowles said that everything happens only "a certain number of times, and a very small number, really.. "  Maybe I should take a different tack?

"You can't wait for inspiration.  You have to go out after it with a club."

I suppose in starting them years ago these reminiscences of mine may have been a way to identify with others - and you are right Naven - the joining of experience is just that, a way of recognising. A sort of common currency. Let me think on it!
