Ramón 65

This photo is quite late and it may have been taken in '68, the year he was murdered.  Something about the Carling in his hand and his jean jacket and the mod glasses he wears that speak to me in this way.  It is an impression merely.  There is no tag to the exact date of the photo.  Nineteen sixty-eight was quite a stunning year, so modern, soo modern, and presaging so many of the terrible things we take for granted in the present.  It is interesting also that he is in the back seat - and drinking.  By this time he had been to court more than a few times for DUIs, and is riding in the back because he can't by law be at the wheel.  An inveterate drunk, he needed one in hand.  Requiescat in pace.

The happy bastard is riding in one of those fancy Cadillacs built back in the day. Either a befinned 64 or a definned 65; the chrome bars in the roof, door trim and assist handle on the back of the front seat are the clues. And notice the can of beer, the toy Red Baron bi-plane and the babe in the front passenger seat, Ramon is ready for more fun.:)
The 1960s were quite a time!

Hello Anon! I was wondering, good eye! It looks to be a lux auto, I was thinking it might be some kind of Oldsmobile (also King of the Land Yachts before the embargos). You certainly know your trim, my good man. I eyed it as well, as a point of style. Hats off! :)

Here in California my uncle was Cadillac crazy in the sixties and seventies. I remember riding in his 1963 Sixty Special and 1965 Fleetwood Brougham sedans, what a time. I never knew our luxury cars were embargoed in Canada. You lucky Canadians had your specially trimmed Fords, Mercurys and Pontiacs, though I believe they went by other names. They are very collectible here in the states.:)

It wasn't until I was older that I realized that different countries of course meant different markets, Anon. Many many French inspired names up here .. Beaumont, Acadian, Laurentian, Parisienne. To name only a few. Haha!
